Dark Angel

The moon had awoken to bathe the wood
With her cool sweet silver light
She soothed the night and
Chased away the angry, glaring sun
I stood atop the waterfall
And heard it laugh with delight
The trees exclaimed amongst themselves
and the wolves made a joyful chorus.

I, a product of darkness, borne of evil,
Raised to hate the world around me,
Stood entranced by the beauty of the night
The abyss was meant to be cold and empty
Yet I felt warm and welcome there
I wanted to join the night forever
Never to endure the harshness of another day
Where the waterfall joined the rushing river,
There I wished to stay

I leapt from the waterfall
Expecting to meet my icy grave
Instead I felt a strange warmth
Beside me on the soft grass
I found joy and peace in his smile
and the stars shone in his eyes

I am no longer a creature of darkness,
But rather a child of the night
Ever basking in the moonlight
With my dark angel by my side
